Hoboken Fashion Mask is an initiative that was started by a Hoboken-based textile Mom Scientist, Melinda Rushing, and raises proceeds to support the Jubilee Center.

Melinda partnered with local artist, Jimena Amaral from Open Workshop Design to design masks, that were not only unique and beautiful but also effective. Hoboken Fashion Masks are hypoallergenic, antibacterial, water-repellent, washable, and safe. They are printed with water-based inks, triple-layered and come in adult and two kids sizes. The creation of the masks came out of sheer need; Melinda wanted masks that she considered safe enough for her children and made from materials, components, and pigments that were tested for safety. As a person of color, news that her community was disproportionately affected by the coronavirus drove Melinda further to want to contribute. Part of the proceeds from the sales of masks go to the Jubilee Center of Hoboken, an after-school program for underprivileged children.
